PARTNERING WITH THE GIRL SCOUTS
Girl Scout Troop 204 in Miami, FL has been a key supporter of Kaombe Private Secondary School. Karina, a member Troop 204, approached Shaina and Brian (Kaombe Relief Fund directors) to plan and implement a service project for her Girl Scout Gold Award. The Gold Award is the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts and is earned by completing a project that provides lasting benefit to the larger community. Referencing Planned Parenthood materials, she developed a culturally relevant sex education course for students at Kaombe Private Secondary School that will be taught by “Girl Guides” in Malawi. Troop 204 also helped raise funds to provide laptops for Kaombe Private Secondary School and the curriculum will be taught on these same laptops. This year, Girl Guide Coordinator Flora Chimwemwe Mtawa, will help train student leaders in the school to become Girl Guides, who will then be able to teach the curriculum to their peers.

Troop 204
This partnership with the Girl Scouts not only promotes important health education but also empowers girls to become leaders in their community. Girl Scout Troop 204 continues to raise funds to sponsor five girls' education each year, further strengthening their impact.
Girl Guides
The Girl Guides at Kaombe Private Secondary School provide girls with opportunities to develop leadership skills, confidence, and resilience. Through mentorship and teamwork, they learn essential life skills to help them succeed in school and beyond.
Flora Chimwemwe Mtawa
Girl Guide Coordinator
My name is Flora Chimwemwe Mtawa. I am a holder of Bachelor's degree of Education in Humanities obtained from Nkhoma University Malawi. Currently I am a teacher at Kaombe Private Secondary school and also a Girl Guide Coordinator at our school. As a passionate educator and Girl Guide Coordinator, I am dedicated to empowering young girls with essential life skills and leadership qualities. My role involves mentoring and guiding the girls in their personal growth and fostering team work. I love the Girl Scout movement because it nurtures confidence, independence and resilience in young girls. I am committed to create a supportive and inspiring environment where every girl can thrive and reach her full potential. We are very grateful for the support which the Girl Scout movement in America is providing to our School by paying the school fees for some students who are in need of it.
