The Full Story
The Desk Project
The Desk Project provided much-needed desks and chairs to a primary school where students previously had to learn on the floor, transforming their classroom experience and bringing the community together in celebration.
Amount Raised: $15,000
Donated: 100 Desks with benches

Before
At Katayamoyo Primary School, students and staff faced severe challenges due to a lack of resources. Despite government funding, the school was unable to provide desks and chairs, leaving students to sit on the floor while learning. Wilson Mwale, a teacher at the school, was deeply saddened by this, recognizing the impact it had on all students. The Director of Kaombe Secondary School and Kaombe Relief Fund Project Leader, Kesinala Mambeya, also visited the school and described it as "one of the poorest schools in Malawi," highlighting the urgent need for support. Without proper seating, students faced discomfort and difficulty focusing, making learning an even greater challenge.
After
After requesting assistance from Kaombe Relief Fund, Wilson delivered the desks, and the transformation was immediate and deeply felt by the entire community. The school hosted a traditional gathering where chiefs spoke, and the Gule Wamkulu performed, marking the occasion with cultural pride and gratitude. Not just a classroom necessity, the new desks restored a sense of dignity and motivation for the students, allowing them to focus on their education in a proper learning environment. This project was more than just furniture—it was a step toward better educational opportunities and a brighter future for the students and their community.
